An agreement undertaken by Litha Pharma (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Litha, sees the healthcare group creating a solid generics product pipeline

The agreement includes a range of quality generic pharmaceutical products developed and manufactured by Micro Labs Limited. Explaining Litha’s rationale in partnering with the Indian manufacturer, Litha’s CEO, Selwyn Kahanovitz, said “We have been anticipating this deal which will enable us not only to expand our pharma product portfolio, but to offer the South African public access to more quality medicines targeting infectious as well as chronic diseases.”

He adds,”The strategic significance of this agreement is substantial. Litha Pharma will now be able to target a wider range of therapeutic areas, specifically where there is scope for growth and a need for NDDS’s (Novel Drug Delivery Systems)”.

Micro Labs Limited, which is recognised for its well-defined research and development programmes for the generics market, has approvals from the FDA (US), MHREA (UK), EU Authorities, Health Canada, TGA (Australia), MCC (South Africa) and regulatory authorities in Asia and Latin America. This will enable Litha to access well defined research and development programmes which include NDDS platforms and novel moiety combinations.
